Cell minutesIn Colombia, I encountered a new type of street vendors. These people don't sell air time cards, they don't sell cellular chips. What they do is basically lease you one of their phones and charge you by minute. You make the call holding the phone attached to a string. In Colombia, they have a complex and expensive cellular price grid. Many people prefer to buy a few minutes now and then like that than buying a monthly plan. These services are also more convenient (and sometimes cheaper) than phone booths.
